There is a news report that has been surfacing online widely over the social media  stating  the headline as

"a man was knocked down by a Honda Civic vehicle in Canada sadly dies in hospital   and identified as former Sri Lankan cricketer Sanath Jayasuriya"

This report further states that

"The Sri Lankan Embassy in Canada had confirmed the identity of the 49 year old as cricketer and said they were aware of his visit to Toronto, Canada."

This news then carried away by people on social media and it was so that even some celeberities tweeted about it.

Actor Arshad Warsi tweeted " This news is so shocking & sad..." in response to the CBTV article on Jayasuriya on May 27,2019.

Even the Indian Cricket bowler Ashwin Ravichandran tweeted to ask whether the news of sudden demise of the cricketer is true or not.

Fake !

Sanath Jayasuriya himself clarifies that he is well and good  in a tweet dated 21 May,2019 which read like  :

"Please disregard fake news by malicious websites regarding my health and well being.  I am in Srilanka and have not visited Canada recently.Please  avoid sharing fake news.

Thus it is concluded that Sanath Jayasuriya is doing very well and is fine as of now. The news report was fake.

The news of his demise was false..
